VICE CHAIR OF ENERGY AND COMMERCE COMMITTEE
ENDORSES H.R. 4282, HEALTH FREEDOM PROTECTION ACT
SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA - Michael Bilirakis (R-FL), the powerful ranking Republican member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee (having jurisdiction over the Food and Drug Administration) announced today that he has become one of twenty-two congressmen co-sponsoring H.R 4282, the Health Freedom Protection Act. The bill would end FDA and FTC censorship of nutrient-disease relationship claims, would require FTC to bear the burden of proof in deceptive advertising cases, and would deny FDA the power to waive conflicts of interest on its Food Advisory Committee panels.
"With the support of Congressman Bilirakis, we have just achieved a milestone in the movement of this bill in the House of Representatives," said attorney Jonathan W. Emord, chairman of the 110-company member Coalition to End FDA and FTC Censorship. "We are most grateful for the Vice-Chair's support and will now move to encourage all members of the Committee to follow his good example."
"It's great to have Congressman Bilirakis joining many of his colleagues in sponsoring The Health Freedom Protection Act, H.R. 4282" said Steve Wallach, General Manager of Youngevity, one of the Health Freedom Coalition's founding members.
