In 1993 my father suffered a stroke, and while it didn't paralyze him, it did send him into a depression which, were it not for the Cabrillo College Stroke Center here in Santa Cruz, California, would have totally robbed him of his zest for living. My family and I are very grateful to have such a facility and organization in our community. Dad looked forward to attending and enjoying classes and activities for stroke victims, many of whom were far worse off than he. In the years since his passing in 1998, the Stroke Center has become my preferred charity to support financially, and when Youngevity introduced the ten hours of community service as a requirement for double diamond status, I immediately knew where I was going to volunteer my time. It was very rewarding to assist the students and teachers in the exercise and art classes, talk at length with people about their experiences and outlook on life, and participate in a most delightful field trip to an old time railroad theme park.
