Report Reveals “Alarming” Levels of Child Obesity in Some Canadian Communities
Childhood obesity is on a general rise in Canada, but a new report reveals that some populations in Northern Quebec have disturbingly high levels of obese children.
According to researchers at the University of Alberta, 65 percent of pre-schoolers in the region are overweight or obese.
According to results from the Canadian Community Health Survey (CCHS) published in 2004, Obesity rates among the general population of Canada have increased substantially during the past 25 years. By 2004 an estimated 500,000 Canadian children were obese.
“High waist circumferences were of particular concern, as this measure is often linked to the onset of Cardiovascular Diseases and Diabetes,” said the researchers.

Hosting Home Meetings & How to Overcome Objections
- “My spouse will kill me!” (Well, have it at a friend's place, sister, mother, etc)
- ”I can't afford it.” (Have a potluck function where each person will bring a special appetizer or dessert.)
- “My house is too small!” (We all know that feeling! But you know, your friends will enjoy themselves, no one ever cares about things like the size of the room, or the state of the house. They just come to have fun, and they never care about those details.)
- “I can't afford to buy anything” (You can get your products for FREE).
- “I don’t have enough furniture” (Have a cushion party. Give a prize for the most unique cushion).
- “No one would come, I live too far away.” (Extend the invitation and give them a chance to decide. They may be looking for something social to participate in. Ask them, you might be pleasantly surprised.)
- “All my friends work” (Great! They are the ones who have a little cash to spare. Besides, they could invite some of the people they work with.)
- “I am new to the area.” (Terrific! What a great way to get to know the neighbors. You certainly would know who your friends were after the party.)
- “My kids are home.” (Bring the kids?? Let them play!)
- “I am too busy!” (Do a quickie or an office party, 15 minute demo, etc.)
