Biological Effects of Lycopene
Lycopene is among the most active antioxidant carotenoids and has strong synergistic effects with other carotenoids (as does lutein) in protecting against oxidative reactions. Many epidemiologic studies have shown protective effects of carotenoids against the risk of cancer, and Lycopene (in tomato products) has been singled out for its apparent protective effect against prostate cancer. Both Lycopene and alpha-carotene intakes may be associated with a decreased risk of lung cancer. In laboratory studies Lycopene has been found to inhibit proliferation of several cancer cell lines and reduce growth stimulation effect of insulin like growth factor of some cancer types. Lycopene by itself was found to reduce cell growth and induce cell differentiation, while low levels of Lycopene and the active form of vitamin D acted synergistically to produce these effects. Many carotenoids, including Lycopene have a "hyporcholesterolemic" effect, that is they lower serum cholesterol levels.

This
Week's Conference Call
Many thanks to last week's featured Conference Call speaker, network marketing expert trainer, speaker and author, Doug Firebaugh. Having trained and educated people in over 500 different companies, Doug's personal development philosophy and his passion for success emanated during the call as he shared his perspective of the Founder's Club and what lies ahead for Youngevity and its distributors!
Also thanks to Double Diamond Peggy Lapsley who is busy preparing for the upcoming event: Nashville on Fire! This event will be held June 22nd through 24th in Nashville, TN. Now is the time to prepare for another great opportunity to attend insightful seminars and lectures with industry experts and leaders. Guest Speakers include: Doctor Joel Wallach, author of 'Dead Doctors Don't Lie' * Doug Firebaugh of PassionFire International * Sandy Elsberg, author of 'Bread Winner Bread Baker' * Triple Diamond Todd Smith * Rich Stocks, creator of the '1st Step Training' kit * Richard Renton aka "Dr. Dirt" * Several other highly successful Youngevity leaders!
Bernie Owens also joined the call with an update on H.R 4282, the Health Freedom Protection Act. The bill is constructed to end FDA and FTC censorship of nutrient-disease relationship claims; would require FTC to bear the burden of proof in deceptive advertising cases, and would deny FDA the power to waive conflicts of interest on its Food Advisory Committee panels. Introduced in November 2005 by Texas Congressman, Ron Paul, the bill has acquired broad bi-partisan support in the House, though it has yet to be introduced in the Senate. Youngevity has submitted several Health Claim Petitions to the FDA and is responsible for the authorized Health Claim Petition for Selenium and its relationship to Cancer Risk Reduction. Youngevity has been very active in this process, defending the Health Claim Petition process through the courts and has submitted many official comments to the FDA on behalf of the nutrition industry, all in an effort to help consumers have more access to truthful information in order to base a more informed decision regarding their own health and wellness.
Tonight, Diamond Jim Mezik will join the call to offer helpful suggestions for successful business building approaches.

Overcome Recruiting Objections
One of the biggest challenges in recruiting is overcoming objections. When someone offers an objection, they are not saying no. Instead, they are sharing a concern or challenge that they need help solving. Learning to handle objections smoothly takes practice. It's not only a matter of knowing what to say, but knowing how to listen and share from your heart. By really connecting with the potential recruits, you need to take your focus off yourself and truly think about how you can help that individual person. What if I told you there was a simple method for overcoming objections that dramatically boost your recruiting, would you want to know how?
Here's how to show your potential recruits you C.A.R.E.!
Check for understanding
Acknowledge
Respond honestly
Expectantly wait.
Imagine if instead of rattling off 101 reasons why your opportunity is the greatest on earth, that you actually stopped, connected, and shared with them from the heart? Using the CARE method of recruiting, lets you bond with them as a person. It changes the focus to being on them, how this opportunity will truly help them, and how you can help them overcome any challenges of time, money, or fear that they might have.
Here's an example:
Let's say you are doing a recruiting appointment with Francine. You are having a cup of coffee to discuss your business opportunity. Francine is a young mom with 2 kids.
You ask, "So Francine, is there any reason why you wouldn't want to try our business opportunity?
Francine, "Actually, your business opportunity sounds great, but I don't know how I'd find the time to do it. I am so busy with errands and taking care of the kids."
Stop right here. What Francine is saying is not that she is not interested. She is saying that she has a problem of not knowing how to make enough time to work your business opportunity into her schedule. She wants you to help her solve her problem. Here's how you respond.
C - Check for Understanding - Mirror back what you think you heard her say. Nod your head and look her in the eye.
You, "So Francine, you are saying that you are really busy?"
Francine, "Yes, it's really crazy being a mom and trying to get everything done."
A - Acknowledge - This is like giving a verbal hug and really honoring her feelings.
You, "Oh Francine, your time is really limited huh?"
Francine,"Yes, I try so hard to give my kids a good life. It takes a lot of time and effort."
R - Respond honestly - Share that you understand how she is feeling. Here is where the feel, felt, found method works great. Show her that you can help her solve the problem she is mentioning in the objection.
You, "I know moms are always busy running around doing things for the family. We have actually found that busy moms do great with this opportunity because they are really on top of things. If I could show you how to work this into your schedule would you be interested?"
E - Expectantly wait - After you say your last close to overcome the objection, just pause and wait to see what she says. Make sure the next words that are spoken are hers.
If Francine offers another objection, start over again with understanding her issue, acknowledging it, responding honestly, and waiting. If Francine offers 3 objections, consider that she might be having a hard time saying no and give her an out. Don't waste your time trying to sell an opportunity to someone who is truly not interested.
Francine, "Yes, if you can show me how to work this opportunity and fit it into my schedule, I'd love to try it. Sign me up."
So next time you are conducting a recruiting interview, remember to show them you care. Before you know it, you'll be on your way to building a huge downline.
Good luck in building your team!
