Supplements Preferred Over Drugs for Weight Loss

  Setting Goals for 2009

Supplements Preferred Over Drugs for Weight Loss

In a survey of 3,500 people, a University of Connecticut team discerned that 34 percent of Americans trying to lose weight are using supplements - an encouraging indicator for the dietary supplement industry.

The survey, funded by pharmaceutical giant Glaxo Smith Kline, was conducted nationwide from November 2005 to January 2006. Nearly half of the respondents, or 1,444 people, said they had made a serious attempt to lose weight at some point in time for at least three days. Of these, approximately one third said they used supplements while only 15 percent used prescription drugs.

The results are encouraging for Nutraceutical Manufacturers: Use of Dietary Supplements and Herbal Products came in third place, behind self-directed exercise( 90%) and dieting (72%).

Until Next Week,

Setting Goals for 2009

Setting and meeting goals provides both direction and joy! These simple steps will help you identify, define, and plan how your goals will be attained. For example, if you want to advance your rank in Youngevity®, what's required? How much do you need in personal sales? How many Associates should you have on your team?

Decide what you want and write it down—be precise!

  • What changes do you want to make?
  • What income would you like?
  • What level do you want to reach (Managing Associate, Diamond, Triple Diamond?) and by when?

State what you are willing to give in return for your goal. Achieving your goal may require that you yield in other areas, make phone calls during a lunch hour, or miss a movie with friends in order to attend a meeting.

Why are your goals important?

You will need to list six reasons for accomplishing each goal, for example, “It will make me feel fantastic!”, or “I can buy that new furniture.” Perhaps its “It will help toward my promotion by ...”

Writing down your goals:

It's ______ (date that you want to accomplish your goal by) and I have moved up to ___________ (Title of the next level in company) I have reached this goal by:

  • Selling a minimum of __________dollars in product each week
  • Making ____ business building phone calls every day
  • Conducting ____ interviews each week
  • Conducting ______ meetings each week
  • Add in your other action steps and the numbers that pertain to you in order to get the results you are looking for.

“As a result of my accomplishment, I will receive special recognition, my commissions will increase, and my vision for my business’ future will be stronger than ever!”

Post your written goals in a place you will see them as you complete your action steps. This will keep you on target the entire day and help your mind believe you will achieve!

Goals aren’t difficult to achieve—the difficulty is remaining disciplined and never giving up!
